Our vision is to forge alliances to develop local and national strategies, change mind-sets and seek legislation to make our African American families whole again.
It is our mission to be the leading national force responsible for highlighting the plight and the rebuilding of the African American family.
There was a time not too long ago when the Black American family structure of nuclear family exceeded that of White America. From that solid foundation solid citizens emerged and entered the workforce ready and able to forge ahead.
Many things have changed since those days. Today, Black families are in tatters and our children are at the bottom of the totem pole. This dire situation must be changed and that is the goal of Rebuild Our Family.
A high percentage of our Black families are headed by females. And of those households, a high percentage is at the poverty level. The children coming out of those homes are at a distinct disadvantage in way of social skills, learning ability and self-confidence. This leads to poor performance and disruptive social behaviors that we see almost nightly on the news. It took a while for us to get to this point and it will take a while for change, but it can occur.
